The Mumbaikar
A series that pays tribute to the city of Mumbai as well as to the iconic magazine covers of The New Yorker. Each artwork has been attempted in a different illustration style, in keeping with how The New Yorker cover art features such varied artists and styles.
The Mumbaikar was conceived as a personal project during the COVID-19 pandemic, and came from my own history with the city. At a time when all of us were confined to our homes, it was my love letter to Mumbai. I wanted every art work to find a connection with other Mumbaikars, whether it was through memory, food, place, or people.
